Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at Info@SummitAerialServices.ca if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Are you licensed to fly drones commercially?

Yes. Summit Aerial Services is operated by a Transport Canada–certified Advanced RPAS pilot. All operations are conducted in accordance with the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), ensuring flights are performed safely, legally, and professionally.

Can you operate in controlled or restricted airspace?

Yes. With Advanced certification, Summit Aerial Services is authorized to operate in controlled airspace with the appropriate airspace authorization. For more complex or specialized operations, we are also capable of applying for Special Flight Operations Certificates (SFOCs) when required.

Are your drones registered and insured?

Absolutely. All aircraft are registered with Transport Canada and covered by commercial drone liability insurance, protecting both the client and the operation.

Do you handle permits and regulatory approvals?

Yes. Where applicable, Summit Aerial Services manages required airspace coordination, permissions, and regulatory approvals as part of the planning process.

What happens if weather or airspace restrictions delay a flight?

Safety and legality always come first. If weather conditions or airspace restrictions prevent safe operation, the flight will be rescheduled for the next suitable opportunity.

What level of quality can I expect from the final deliverables?

With a background in photography and aviation discipline, Summit Aerial Services prioritizes clarity, composition, and consistency. Every project is planned and executed with attention to detail.

Do you rush flights to get them done quickly?

No. Flights are never rushed. Proper planning, site assessment, and timing are essential for both safety and quality.

Will you work with me during the planning process?

Yes. Clear communication is part of every project. We work closely with clients to understand goals, site considerations, and expectations before flight day.

Can you fly near people, buildings, or live environments?

Operations near people, structures, or live environments are assessed carefully and conducted only when legal, authorized, and appropriate.

What if I have specific concerns or unique requirements?

Every project is different. If something can be done safely and legally, we will pursue the proper process. If it cannot, we will explain why.

For Event Organizers

Do you have experience flying at live events?

Yes. Summit Aerial Services approaches event operations with a strong focus on safety, planning, and regulatory compliance. Each event is evaluated individually to determine what approvals and coordination are required.

Can you fly over crowds or near attendees?

Flights over or near people are only conducted when legally permitted and appropriately authorized. Safety planning and risk mitigation are central to all event operations.

Do you coordinate with venues and authorities?

Yes. Where required, Summit Aerial Services can coordinate with venue management, local authorities, and airspace stakeholders to ensure operations are conducted responsibly.

What information do you need from event organizers?

Event location, dates, expected attendance, site layout, and any existing permits or restrictions help ensure proper planning and compliance.

What happens if conditions change on event day?

If weather, airspace restrictions, or safety considerations change, operations may be delayed, adjusted, or rescheduled to maintain compliance.
